Kathleen Watkins, Ph.D. is a retired psychotherapist, trainer and consultant with 30 years of experience in the field of psychology.
Dr. Watkins received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology (with emphasis in Ethnocultural Psychology) in 1997 and an M.A. in Clinical psychology in 1992, from the California School of Professional Psychology, Fresno, California. She was awarded a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Redlands, Redlands, California.
She was the 2004 recipient of the Child Abuse Prevention award from the Long Beach Area Child Abuse and Domestic Violence Prevention Council.
Dr. Watkins held the position of Child Therapist at Miller Children’s Abuse and Violence Intervention Center (MCAVIC), Long Beach, California from 1999 until the center closed in 2009. She worked as a child and family therapist at For the Child in Long Beach from 2012-2014 and she was Adjunct Professor at Pepperdine University (Malibu campus) in the graduate psychology department during the academic year of 2016/2017.
From 2015 to 2021 she was in private practice in Long Beach at the Center for Best Living providing psychotherapy to individuals (children and adults), families and couples. As of March 2021, she retired from being a psychotherapist and transitioned to providing coaching as a certified life coach. Dr. Watkins is currently focusing all her time on life coaching, consulting, training and public speaking.
